Types of Adverbs

 Adverbs in English can be categorized into several types based on their function:


1. Adverbs of Manner

 Describe how something is done.

* Often end in "-ly" (e.g., quickly, slowly, carefully)

 Example: She ran **quickly** to catch the bus.


2. Adverbs of Time

Indicate when something happens.

 Examples

    **Now**, We are  eating breakfast.

    * John will arrive **tomorrow**.

    * They have been waiting **for hours**.


3. Adverbs of Place

 Specify where something happens.

Examples

    * The dog is sleeping **here**.

    * We went **outside** to play.

    * He looked **everywhere** for his keys.


4. Adverbs of Frequency

 Show how often something happens.

 Examples:

    * My mom **always** brushes her teeth before bed.

    * I **sometimes** go to the gym.

    * We **never** eat fast food.


5. Adverbs of Degree

 Modify verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs to show intensity.

 Examples:

    * It is **very** hot today.

    * He is **extremely** talented.

    * She ran **quite** fast.


6. Conjunctive Adverbs

 Connect two clauses or sentences and show a relationship between them.

 Examples:

    * **However**, He decided to go to the party.

    * **Moreover**, I am a talented musician.

    * **Therefore**, We will be late.


7. Interrogative Adverbs

 Used to ask questions.

  Examples:

    * **When** will they be home?

    * **Where** did you go?

    * **How** did she make this cake?


8. Relative Adverbs

 Introduce a subordinate clause that modifies a noun.

 Examples:

    * This is the house **where** I grew up.

    * I don't know **why** she left.

    * The reason **why** she quit is unknown.


Note: Some adverbs can fall into multiple categories depending on their context.
